I do not know about you, but I am so looking forward to this
coming weekend. So many things to look forward to, one being that it is Friday
and I get sleep in tomorrow. I have always enjoyed Friday nights, it is the
time when you can literally unwind, and not think about work, school, or whatever
it might be that you do during the week. It is a time where you can just enjoy
the company that is all around you. This Friday night, we are having our usual
Friday night movie and pizza. Usually we have a crowded house filled with new
and old friends, tonight, however, is going to be just the Jackson Village.
Just the eight of us, enjoying one another’s company; tonight we are not only
going to be relaxing, but we are also going to be preparing for the busy
weekend ahead.
This weekend we have Lum’s BIG sixteenth Birthday party. She
has invited several of her family and friends. Tomorrow is going to be a big
never ending dance party, which I have to say I am so excited for! Tonight
Katelyn, Kathleen, and I are going to be making a MASSIVE cake, and we are
going to be making decorations galore! While we do all of this, we are going to
be eating pizza, and watching Chris’ favorite show, well more like his arch
enemy: Downton Abbey. All of the women over here are hooked, and that is all
that we have been watching for movie nights. I have to say, I know that many of
you have probably seen the show, or know about it, but for those who know
nothing about it…GO SEE IT. I was very intrigued by the first episode, and now
in second season, I am hooked. Anyways, that was my moment of shamelessly advertising
a TV show (It airs on PBS. Check your local listings for times.)
So, this weekend we have a big birthday party to put
together, and this coming week is Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite
Holidays. Thanksgiving really is the moment for me to reflect on my life, and
just see how much I have been blessed. I have been blessed with an amazing
family, I have been blessed with some incredible friends, and I have been
blessed with this wonderful opportunity to work for the Lord in Africa. If you
were to tell me a year ago that next Thanksgiving I would be living in Africa,
I would have laughed at you and would have continued selling cupcakes to a
customer; God really is amazing, and he cares so much about us. I am so thankful
for so many things, and one being you. I am so thankful for the people that are
so supportive of me. If it was not for all of you, I would not be here in
Africa today. This has been such a challenging, and wonderful experience. I am
so thankful that God has brought me here, and I am thankful for the work he has
given me here, and I am thankful for all of the fun that I am having as well.
Thank you Lord for your never ending love, I thank you that
in the darkest of times, you are still right there with us. I thank you that
you never give up on us, and that we can never lose our salvation. I thank you
Lord that you bring new friendships and new people into our lives. I thank you
Lord for the old friends that I have, I thank you that I have been so blessed.
And I give a thank you for my cat Nemo, who I dearly miss.
I hope that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I am thankful for you.
