Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for the week of silence. I
have been busy with work, and I pretty much just spent the last week looking at
this blank blog page..thinking about what to write. I have finally hit that place
where I have nothing to say. I, as many of you know, am a big talker. When you
get me going, I can easily become one of those people who can take over a
conversation. But this last week, I had nothing to say, even today I am finding
it difficult to put together what I want to say. But here is an attempt to
catch you all up:
Not only have I dived into work this week, but I also got my
hair braided (yes I am that wannabe hippie that I have always wanted to be,)
and we celebrated Sallah up in the village I was at a week ago. The time in
Africa where I get to sleep in as late as I want, the time where we go out on
random adventures in the middle of the week is over. We have officially begun
the school and work schedule. We get up every morning around seven thirty, we
read devotions, and then we dive right into work/school. I have to say, I did
not really understand how big of a process the Sunday school lessons are. So
far I am working on Lesson 6, shortly moving over to lesson 7. Every lesson I
help with the writing, I type everything up, I lay it all out on the lesson
page, and then I edit. The last two weeks I have been editing over lessons 1-5.
One lesson can take me a couple of days for it to be complete. It really is an
intense process, but I have to say, I am so excited to get the 52 lessons in
Luke all complete. Chris and Karen visited one of the villages that have used
the first 5 lessons, and they are eagerly awaiting more lessons. They said that
the number of kids attending church has sky rocketed, the children take home
the coloring pages, and they are sharing the Bible lessons to their families.
Karen and I have been working as fast as possible to get as many lessons out.
It has been a blessing, Kathleen has not been as busy as we
have been with the lessons, so she is helping out as well with page layout and
editing. I am very excited to continue working, and to see the material being
put to use.
This last week has been an interesting one, God continues to
challenge me in ways I never thought I would be challenged. To think I have
been here in Africa for a little over a month, it will be amazing to see the
person I have become when I come back to the United States months down the
road.
I apologize for the lack of details and specifics on what is
going over here in Africa, but I am still stuck in the land where all I want to
do is stare at a blank blog page and listen to Coldplay. I shall try again
tomorrow.
Until next time,
Sarah
